Did you see the full moon on Sunday? Jody and I, ferociously ill zombies that we were, watched out the window as it rose huge and bright in the sky -- the legendary Harvest Moon. For awhile now, Jody's been offhandedly predicting the fruit would be ready soon after the first full moon in October. Despite all our planning and preparations, it still seemed like a gauzy faraway dream. Now, it's time to wake up.
The fruit is ready.
We're scheduled for a Thursday night pick of our Grenache and Syrah at the Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard, and a 7:00 Friday morning pickup. We'll be there with the refrigerated truck, ready to load our 1.5 tons of precious cargo and drive it home. And then?
